More Children means more Toilets

A record 260 children have enrolled for 2012 with more expected before the end of March. The children were greeted with a piñata* in every classroom 'so they would think of school as a place of happiness' according to acting head teacher, Patricia. With so many kids 2 toilets is not enough so at the February meeting IMFA agreed to fund a new toilet block. Well,we were flush with money after so many great pub quizzes.... For the latest on work at Los Pollitos and our future plans, please read the Spring newsletter. Spring newsletter to sponsors.

*A piñata is a traditional birthday party game in which blindfold children armed with a stick try to bash sweets and toys out of a suspended papier mache figure. A bit violent but great fun!

To Managua by Bike

Kim Alexander, who is cycling round Central America to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, dropped into Los Pollitos while she was in Managua. You can read about her visit to the school and the fabulous Nicaraguan hospitality she found on her blog at http://kimunkeycyclescentralamerica.blogspot.com where there are also some more great pictures.

Pub Quiz

£400 raised at the April Pub Quiz

£400 is the most we have ever raised in a pub quiz with 48 contestants split into 9 teams. Everyone had a great night thanks to brilliant questions from Baggy, the master setter himself.

It's a fun night out for a good cause so please do join us for the next one on 16th November. Baggy is setting again so let's try and break the April record. Bring a team or join one on the night, you will always be very welcome. They are getting popular so it might even be worth arriving early!
